General Homecare Policies:
- Cancellation of a scheduled shift may result in demerits or counseling.
Continuity of care is very important.
- Employees who are consistent with a 40-hour work week will be given preferential assignments.
- Employees should always respect the client, their home and family.
- Employees must report any unusual occurances or incidents
as soon as possible.
- Changes in a patient's health or mental condition must be
reported to the Administration Supervisor.
Dress Code:
- Workers should be neat and clean
- Name badges should be worn at all times.
- Color of scrubs should be either black or blue;
pants should be worn (no jeans!)
- Fingernails should be kept clean and trimmed.
- Shoes should be black or "clean" white tennis shoes.
Code of Ethics:
- Client's needs come first.
- Show clients respect at all times.
- Appropriate behavior should be exercised at all times.
- In event of any ethical violations, the administration department
will review the incident and take appropriate action.
Performance Evaluation Policies:
- Employees must be on time every day. If he or she cannot be on
time or cannot come to work, they must call and explain before
10:00 pm on the day before a scheduled workday.
- Employees must follow all Maddox Professional Homecare policies
and procedures while functioning as a team member.
- Employees must demonstrate dependability and willingness to
maintain the agency's high quality care.
- Employees will not spread confidential information such as medical
and personal business or gossip about the client or their family.
- Employees must attend required educational and
informational procedures training.
- Employees must be able to communicate with the client,
the client's family and agency staff.
Home Safety Guidelines :
- Throw rugs should have rubber backing to prevent
a patient slipping and falling.
- Observe good safety habits for each homecare case.
- Keep emergency phone numbers (Emergency 911, police,
fire department, ambulance, doctor) in a handy, visible place.
- Have the name of nearest relative or a designated contact handy
in case of an emergency.
- Smoke detectors should be in a working condition –
they must be checked regularly.
- Furniture should provide good support for the client.
- Fire extinguishers should be available; baking soda should be
on hand in case of a grease fire.
- Refrigerators should have adequate temperature to keep food cold.
- Keep electrical cords away from water.
- Elctrical space heaters should not be left on if the client
is not in the room.
- Empty garbage before you leave.
Employee Safety Guidelines:
- Lock personal items in your car trunk; do not take your purse
into the homecare client's home.
- Make sure you have a map and directions to (street, building
and house number) to the job site.
- Always park in a well lit, well traveled area.
- Always be on alert from the moment you park your car until you
get inside the client's home.
- Keep your keys in your hand when returning to your car so do not
have to search for them (they can be used as a weapon if necessary).
- Do not wear flashy jewelry or chains.
